I was recently introduced to a new web application called The Day Baby Was Born™ by Tommee Tippee (you know, the one that makes amazing baby products!). If you are expecting a baby you really need to check this out. It is a FREE “digital storybook that captures baby’s beginnings.” After you create an account, the software guides you to add your own journaling, draws from news sources to collect facts from the day your baby is born and collects comments from your Facebook feed. You can add your own photos and images! The end result is a cool .pdf file for you to download and print out. Did I mention it is all for FREE!!

Above you can see a sample page from the book I created for my daughter Calista. I wanted to test out the software before sharing what I discovered with all of you. Because I created the book 9 months after my daughters birth I wasn’t able to use all of the awesome features, but the book is still really cool and I have printed it out and put it with her scrapbook and other keepsakes from her first year. The book has a classic style and color palette and works beautifully with black and white or color photography.
My point is, if you are pregnant now, you should start your own book today. The software has features for helping you announce news about the baby via Facebook, it then pulls the comments you get on those posts back into the book (you can filter out the comments you don’t want to see). You might want to use the software to announce via Facebook that you are expecting, then those comments will be in your book. If you are already past that stage you can use The Day Baby Was Born to announce the gender of your baby after your ultrasound or to share the news the day your baby arrives.
