Would love to make this for my little one…she loves paper dolls
Any suggestions on adhesives to use on this project?
Julie,
I used a Xyron machine, which makes everything into a sticker. I should do a test and see if regular craft glue or E6000 would work… E6000 works on pretty much everything, so it would probably be a safe bet. You can find it at Jo-Anns.

Just curious how you adhered the paper doll stickers to the magnetic material. Wondering if you could use the laminate magnetic material made for the xyron machine as a one step process… Have you tried this way? Thank you!
I have never used the laminate magnetic material. I just ran the dolls through the Xyron and turned them into stickers, then stuck them to the magnet sheet. Another way if you don’t have a Xyron machine, but you bought the .pdf downloadable dolls, would be to print the dolls on a label/sticker sheet. I think Avery makes a solid sheet 8.5×11 size. After the dolls are printed on the sticker sheet you could just stick them to the magnet sheet and then trim them out.
Hope that helps!
Alanna
Quick question: instead of gluing the dolls to the tin could you make them magnetic as well? Also, I have seen lots of magnetic paper with adhesive side, you could use that instead of having to turn the different outfits into stickers right?
Yes, you can definitely make the dolls magnetic. Mine are magnetic. And the outfits are also on magnetic paper like you suggest. That way everything can easily be moved around and played with over and over! – Alanna

My little girls would love these dolls.
I’m hoping to make something similar to these for 9 of my nieces. Anniversary/Birthday Charts for my Mom and at least one of my sisters.
So cute and creative!
Hi!!
I want to make these as party favors for my daughter. Where did you purchase Sarah Jane’s paper? It is sooo hard to find. No one sells it locally, and many of the websites I have found either have crazy shipping rates or say that products will ship in approx 2 weeks. I need them before then… I would love some input!!
Thank you!
Kerstin,
I am not sure where you can purchase them. I got mine directly from Colorbok/Making Memories for my giveaway. Sorry I can’t be of more help…
Alanna
in the above article there is a link to the sarahjane website where you can purchase pdf patterns for the dolls and then you have to print them out.
Hi,
What a great idea! How big is your gift card tin? Am in Australia and going to order the paper dolls and tins online and just want to make sure the paper dolls fit. Love your blog!
Thankyou!!!!
My tin measures about 4.875 inches x 3.25 inches. Let me know if you need any other measurements!
Alanna
Thanks so much Alanna! Exactly what I needed!
i would eagerly play with those cute dolls myself) love this post
I would love to know where you got the label that says “little girls have a magic all their own”? It’s one of the cutest elements of this project. I just purchased magnetic paper today and can’t wait to get started!! -Sarah
Sarah,
It was a sticker that was in a scrapbooking line that Sarah Jane did… Probably hard to find now! – Alanna
