One day last week Allan wanted to color on a paper bag, somehow that turned into creating paper lunch bag puppets. Creating the puppets kept them busy for over an hour. I was relived to have a few minutes to myself where I wasn’t playing Mom the Entertainer. Even Charlie was coloring and creating at the table.
During Charlie’s nap Lorelei and Allan came up with the idea to make the play box into a puppet stage. It really made me laugh when I came to watch their puppet show. Lorelei has two puppets up,a Prince and a Princess, and Allan’s puppet (far left) is the dragon. It was too funny to hear what they were making their puppets say. What great imaginations they have. It was a fun activity for them to do on their own without my help.
Allan created a really great Stegosaurus puppet with pointy scales all the way down the back. I have yet to get a picture of it,but it showed so much creativity. Lorelei was creating beautiful rainbow-inspired princess puppets. When creating puppets anything goes. They can glue, tape or draw anything they want on their puppet, the only thing holding them back is seeing what other supplies I will let them use! I found crepe paper, buttons, feathers and colored construction paper for them to use.
Later when Steve arrived home he said,“I don’t think we should waste paper bags like that.”I gave him the evil eye…
