Today we made bird seed pine cones. I lucked out and we were at the end of the Peanut Butter jar, so I let the kids dig in with their knives by themselves multiple times and didn't worry about dirt or sap from the pine cones getting in the peanut butter. We had quite a peanut butter mess on their hands, sleeves and the table. Then I gave them each a cup of bird seed to dump over the pine cones and onto their paper plates. Then we rolled the pine cones around to get them good and covered with seed.
The weather outside was nasty today, so I ran out and hung them on the tree myself. Allan was really mad at me, but the porch and walk were slippery and I didn't think I should try and hold him up to hang them on the tree for fear I would slip and we would both get hurt. Hopefully they don't blow off the tree overnight, it is really windy out today!
