Some of you may remember last winter when I posted a picture of Charlie making his “cheese” for the camera face (see here). The tradition continues. Every time I pull out the camera he defaults into this scrunched up face. So cute, but yet could I just get a normal picture of his face?
This cheese face expression led me to think about how much he has grown, yet how much he has stayed the same. The amazing part about the first years of a child’s life is that you get to see their personality develop. There are traits you can see almost from the moment they are born. Charlie has always been adventurous and outgoing. A lot of this I saw from early on. He didn’t mind noise or get scared of new people as a baby. Now when we go to a party he actually runs up to cousins, Aunts and Uncles to see them and hug them. Neither of my other two have ever done that. As he grows, the tiny glimpses I saw in his personality from birth continue to shine brighter.
I am sure some of these traits can be attributed to being #3 in the line-up. He can have more confidence because he has a brother and a sister at his side. He has to have more confidence so he can keep up with them.
Charlie loves to wrestle. Lots of times he is the aggressor, hugging Allan around the waist and pulling Allan to the ground on top of him. He loves every minute of it. He loves to make roaring sounds and to laugh loudly whenever the other two laugh.
He already communicates clearly with his words and actions. He will grab my hand and say “see” when he wants to show me something. Other words he says daily are: Mom, Daddy, Lorelei, go, see, MINE, shoe, juice, cup, baby, eat, cheese, candy, night (for good night), bye and hi.
Recently he has learned to build big block towers out of our eeBoo blocks. When the tower is as tall as he is he claps and says, “see, see” for me to look. Then he plows into the tower and knocks it done.
He is at my favorite age, everything is new for him and waiting to be discovered!
