On my first visit to Tophatter I signed up and created my new account. After you have your new account you can personalize your Avatar to resemble you or move on to shopping, I did the latter. (You might become addicted to this site, just now while typing this review I visited the Tophatter site and got sidetracked looking at what is up for auction today! Ooops!)

Most of the time while I was shopping on the Tophatter site there were multiple auctions taking place. I found I liked the variety of auctions they offer. The one I shopped most often though was Supplies, no surprise there, right? But if you aren’t looking for craft supplies you can also find lots of jewelry, handmade items, purses, scarves, electronics – lots of great CHRISTMAS gift items.

Want to see what I bought? Of course you do. Now I am a cautious shopper, I like to see how much an item goes for and then wait until the next time it comes up and then bid. None of this throwing caution to the wind! One of the great features of Tophatter is that you can set a text message alert for the item you are watching. A couple minutes before the item goes up for auction you will receive a text message telling you it is coming up. I used this feature A LOT!! As a mom of four I would forget that I was watching something, you know I have a ton of interruptions all day long, then I would get a text message saying the item was coming up for auction. What a time-saver too, you don’t have to sit at your computer waiting and watching.

Ok, now you can see what I bought. I bid on a number of different items and didn’t have the winning bid for all of them. Sometimes the item went for higher than I wanted to pay or what I thought the item was worth. One of the items I won was 50 yards of Baker’s Twine in my choice of 14 colors. My winning bid was $7 and shipping for this item was $3. I already received my twine and I LOVE it. I have already used it on a number of craft items and to tie around a few gift packages. I am definitely happy with my purchase.

The second item I won was a grab bag of 50 Shabby Chiffon Flowers (picture shown above is just one of 3 photos of colors available). My winning bid was $18 and shipping for this item was $4. Maybe not a crazy good deal, but I felt that was a fair price and I like the fact that I am going to get a large assortment of colors to use. You know I love putting flowers on things, right? I haven’t received this item yet as I just won this auction yesterday. But I paid immediately (via Paypal) and the seller got right back to me with an answer to the question I had. I am already busy dreaming up handmade fabric headbands for my girls.
