Lorelei found her first love this weekend while we were camping. She wanted to spend every minute with this new boy. He was the son of one of the families we were camping with.
After arriving home on Sunday she came to me and said, "Mom, I am in love with O. Well, I really like him and we thought we could get married." (Insert shock and horror on my face.) She went on to tell me how he is really nice because he helped her while they were riding bikes and she was afraid of a dog passing by, so O helped her get around the dog. She also kinda likes dinosaurs too, just like he does.
Allan on the other hand was so crushed by this new development. He cried because he is supposed to marry Lorelei, so we can all live together forever. Lorelei's response to this was, "Allan when you fall in love you have to marry them."
She thought and talked of O for the rest of the day. She asked me how to spell his name.
The next morning when she came downstairs she said, "Mom I still remember him." Then she drew this picture of the two of them. Notice that the hearts above them are also holding hands.
During all of this the theme song from Disney's Cinderella cartoon kept popping in my head.
So This Is Love…
So this is love, Mmmmmm
So this is love
So this is what makes life divine
I'm all aglow, Mmmmmm
And now I know
The key to all heaven is mine
My heart has wings, Mmmmmm
And I can fly
I'll touch ev'ry star in the sky
So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of
Mmmmmm
Mmmmmm
So this is love
I told Lorelei that if he makes her feel really happy then that is pretty special. Then I said, "You can't get married until you are at least 18." You know what she replied? "That isn't very long away." (Insert huge choking sound from me.)

So adorable! I still remember when this cute little pig-tailed 4 year old girl gave my son a little peck on the cheek during outdoor playtime…His first kiss…
They are high school seniors now and the memory of their short-lived preschool playground romance is a sweet one for me.
