In previous posts I forgot to mention that each day we open a door on our Advent box and it reveals a clue as to what activity we will do for the day. Today it was a tiny house ornament.
Tonight after dinner we all settled in for a craft. Steve helped Allan and I helped Lorelei. The box form for our houses were small cereal boxes. I saved them from the hotel trip to Silver Bella, one for each of them. First we choose some Christmas scrapbooking paper, then we used double-sided tape and glue to cover the boxes with paper. Next we made a roof using more coordinating paper. Then we glued each house to a cardboard base that we had also covered with paper. For a finishing touch we added doors and windows made from more paper and stickers.
After the house and base were assembled the fun part began. The kids picked out Christmas themed items from my bag of craft stuff. There were candy canes, snowmen, bottle brush trees, wreaths and tiny reindeer. Lorelei went glue crazy and began adding decorations to the base.
It was fun to see where she placed everything. Allan was more nonchalant, he pretty much just watched Steve glue things on, he really doesn't get into the crafting as much as Lorelei does. He is still pretty young for a lot of the projects, but he loves to be included!
Both houses turned out cute. I will have to add a picture of both finished houses side by side after the glue dries. We may have to add some glitter to them yet!
